security

On the wall of our 5th wheel trailer I have 2 pictures. One is of a handsome young man in wrestling garb. He's got a big smile and he's an aggressive light weight wrestler. His arms and legs end before his first joints- elbows and knees; no arms or legs. The other picture is
of Helen Keller: blind, deaf, mute. Why those pictures? Well, whenever I tend to feel sorry for myself, remembering certain loses, or failures in life, or sometimes security concerns, I look at those pictures. Then I feel ashamed of myself- but encouraged. If they can "succeed" with their handicaps, then all my excuses evaporate. In fact, I remember years ago, a friend saying Helen Keller took all his excuses away. "Security is mostly a superstition. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing....Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure." Helen Keller. I guess she would know.
