Here's an idea for when you get discouraged. Make a list of the
people you know, or see on TV, or read about, with handicaps or
problems. Put that in a notebook and review it from time to time.
It's something I've done and have found it very helpful. It's not
about being happy about someone else's troubles, God forbid, but
it can put things in a different perspective. Best to you....
Oh, and if you have any ideas you think would be helpful along
those lines please let us know. Thanks.

security
On the wall of our 5th wheel trailer I have 2 pictures. One is of a handsome young man in wrestling garb. He's got a big smile and he's an aggressive light weight wrestler. His arms and legs end before his first joints- elbows and knees; no arms or legs. The other picture is
of Helen Keller: blind, deaf, mute. Why those pictures? Well, whenever I tend to feel sorry for myself, remembering certain loses, or failures in life, or sometimes security concerns, I look at those pictures. Then I feel ashamed of myself- but encouraged. If they can "succeed" with their handicaps, then all my excuses evaporate. In fact, I remember years ago, a friend saying Helen Keller took all his excuses away. "Security is mostly a superstition. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing....Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure." Helen Keller. I guess she would know.

retirement
In reference to my last post, I feel I must clear something up. When my father says, he "would have done it years ago", it was retiring he was refering to, not camping. However, I'm almost certain that if he had had the opportunity, he would have enjoyed that too.

traveling together
As I reflected on the idea of togetherness I thought back to the many times my family took off in- not "planes, trains and automobiles"- but in tent campers, motorhomes, and 5th wheels. We had great times! I think of my father's remark when he retired: "If I'd known how great it was, I'd
have done it years ago!" Well, with the gas prices so high now, I begin to appreciate what we had. But, more about that.

togetherness
Success is usually easier in "tandem". Years ago in the Air Force we would get together at the end of a seminar and share our collective wisdom for the final exam. Actually, the guys who knew what was going on helped the rest of us. Some of us non-combat types (chaplains, medics, even veterinarians) didn't know that much about "nuking", "megatons" of ..., etc. That's what we propose here- No, not "nuking"!- but sharing ideas. Two heads- 200 heads- are better than one!
That much I could figure out on my own.
